"Play me, I'm yours"

Ahhh! Such a cool idea!
If you haven't heard about it here is the short version...
41 artist painted pianos are placed in random spots around Toronto as a engaging art exhibit!! It is to mark the countdown to the 2015 Pan American Games and to celebrate art from various cultures. Each piano is designed by an artist picked to represent the 41 countries participating in the games.

Nicaragua, Paul Conlan
I am so jealous I am not in Toronto to witness it but I hope people take advantage and start outdoor concerts. It would be so uplifting and awesome to witness everyday people sitting down and showcasing their talents.

here is the link to the article. If you are in Toronto, go searching for these pianos!

- I wish they would do projects like these more often... it could get kids inspired (and away from video games :) )

  2. Hey...I am thinking about going to SABA and will be applying for Jan 2013 admission. I have to say I love your blog! As a Canadian, there are lots of little things i relate to as well.

Also, I have a question for you: How important would you say the MCAT is in obtaining admission? What mark should I aim for? My gpa is about 3.3 and I have solid extra-curriculars.
    Thanks,

    Jonas

    1. Hey Jonas, sorry for the late reply. I know some students who received admission without writing the MCAT; with that said I think that it helps. I know they do look at it and for some students they request for them to write it... it shows how well you can do standardized tests. In terms of a specific mark, I am not sure. I don't think Saba has a cut off - but of course, the higher the better. Sorry I can't be more specific than that.

      good luck,

  3. Hey there, thanks a lot for such an informative blog. I am starting Sep.2012 @ Saba. I have a few questions:
    1. Should I buy books here and carry in my luggage or get them delivered at saba through university booksstore
2.Is it better to buy return ticket or one way from Toronto
    Thanks!

    1. Congrats on the admission! I realize this is late but if you haven't already decided...The university book store is good because it doesn't add weight to your bags and they deliver it straight to the school. Depending on how much you want new textbooks I would also recommend checking to see if students who were in first semester are selling their books. (they usually post in the facebook group for your class). As for the tickets look for the better deal. I usually buy the ticket off the island and back for the new semester together just because you have a better idea of the dates once you are at school.

      have a great experience,

  4. I would strongly encourage you to stay away from Saba. Do some research on Value MD. AUC or St . Georges should be the only 2 schools you consider. AUC pass rate is on Step 1 98% so far this year. Food for serious thought.

    1. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I appreciate your input, however Saba also has a great Step 1 pass rate (I believe it's 98-99%). I thought it was a great choice for those who are willing to work hard and are dealing with some financial restraints.

  5. Hi I am wondering how do you like the school and the island so far. I am considering SABA but I am afraid of the high drop-out rate. If you have time, can you please email me at linda_jiao@hotmail.com?

    Thank you so much!

    1. Thanks for your comment, Linda. I'm not sure how to answer your question except to say... read the blog. I think you get a pretty good idea of the ups and downs of the island and Saba in general. As for the high drop out rate... its gotten better as Saba has lowered the passing rate to 70% since last semester (the 5% truly makes a HUGE difference). If that is the only thing holding you back and not considering Saba, it shouldn't anymore :)
      hope that helps
